Yet, the region is also home to a wealth of charming villages where heritage, vineyards, breathtaking views, and encounters with passionate local winemakers come together.

From picturesque wine-growing villages nestled among the vineyards to peaceful countryside gems, these are the places that reveal another side of Champagne — authentic, timeless, and full of character.

1. Hautvillers

Hautvillers

Known as the birthplace of Champagne, Hautvillers is an absolute must-visit. This is where Dom Pérignon, the famous Benedictine monk often associated with the history of Champagne, is laid to rest. Wander through its flower-filled streets, admire the wrought-iron signs created by local artisans, and enjoy breathtaking views over the UNESCO World Heritage-listed vineyards and hillsides.
